Radiological Imagery Standardization will Speed Business and Save Lives

Currently the business of Radiology image sharing is a one to one relationship.  Hospitals connect in a one to one fashion either connecting through a secure one to one connection or by sharing in a one to one fashion through a product like Powershare (Nuance) or Ambra to name two vehicles of image sharing.  When a hospital wants to share an image many times the other hospital is stuck not being able to receive the images because the hospital trying to share the image uses a different software that does not link to the one the receiving hospital is using.

Many of the radiologists that I deal with this issue would like to standardize this process because the current way is time consuming.  The only thing is that the major software distributers in the industry are inflexible and care about making money and not the patients they support.  So I had an idea for your cloud.  Why not provide a translation service for these hospitals and doctors that would allow them to copy up to the cloud in one version of software, have it translated and downloaded into the other hospitals System?  I can guarantee you would get buy in from all the radiologist doctors who suffer using the current 1 to 1 relationship which is extremely dated and cumbersome.

If you think about it this type of translation cloud could be used to save the life of someone you love....

I was a PACS administrator for 2 years. And this is absolutely true.  The process of Pushing images is cumbersome at best.  We'd need to do a market review and find out what has changed in this space.  Also gain support from major PACS vendors like Mckessen, Merge, Philips, GE, Cerner, Epic.  We could arrange a short kick-the-tires conversation with Merge.  Also need to build a business case.  Going to file as a "Later" Idea.
