IBM Cloud - Structured Ideas

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Cloud and its products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Request for Additional Worker Pool Flavor with Increased Disk Capacity

Hi, Dear IBM comrades!

Currently, the worker pool flavors available on IBM Cloud provide only 120GB of disk capacity, which is often insufficient for modern applications, especially in environments like IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS), where frequent deployments of components such as Manage generate substantial amounts of data. Out of the 120GB available, less than 100GB is usable, causing storage issues over time.

There is an existing worker pool flavor, b3c.16x64.300gb, that offers 300GB of secondary storage, which is excellent. However, we would like to request additional worker pool flavors that maintain this 300GB disk capacity but reduce the CPU and memory specifications. For instance, it would be beneficial to have the following worker pool flavors:

  • b3c.16x32.300gb

  • b3c.8x32.300gb

  • b3c.4x16.300gb

These options would provide greater flexibility, allowing users to optimize their infrastructure according to actual resource needs without over-provisioning CPUs or memory, which aren't always required. This would be particularly advantageous for customers who need high disk capacity but have more moderate compute or memory requirements.

Introducing these flavors would provide more cost-effective and resource-efficient options for users. We hope this enhancement will be considered, and we encourage others to support this idea as it will benefit many IBM Cloud users.

Thank you for your consideration!

Best regards,
Ievgen Ryvkin
