Hello,
We are running a rather large vSAN environment, it was suggested by VMware we upgrade the disk FW. Since I know IBM (Softlayer) it always takes a tremendous amount of time for these simple tasks, so I asked how long a disk firmware upgrade would take and I was told it would take about 2 hours. So I set my repair timer at 3 hours (knowing IBM/Softlayer) After actually trying it took more than 3 hours to complete, which resulted in a resync, which resulted in performance issues.
I have about 39 hosts to patch, do the math and it takes a crazy amount of downtime.
So please make this process better, I've done it many times myself an never did it take 3 to 4 hours.
This goes for every aspect of FW patching.

Hello,
It's nice to see this idea has been accepted but is there any update? I'm currently patching firmware in FRA02 taking over 5 hours to complete for a single host and it's not even an incident.
Great to see this Idea has now been accepted. Awaiting to be considered for future implementation. Take care and stay safe!
